Thomas Piketty’s book Capital in the Twenty-First Century has received enormous attention since it was published in early 2014. As in most countries it created a lot of debate in Sweden but since it was not available in Swedish at the time I was asked to write an introduction and a summary of it. This book is the result of that request. My hope is that it will encourage more people to read Piketty’s book in full, and to discuss the many important issues it raises.
It has subsequently been translated and published in Norwegian, Danish, and Finnish, and is now also available in English and in Spanish.
